Select the Right Trees

When choosing trees for decorative landscaping, consider the size, shape, and color of the trees. Do you want a small, bushy tree for a corner of the yard or a large, stately tree for a centerpiece? Consider the surrounding environment, as well as the amount of sunlight the tree will receive, so you choose the optimal tree species for your space.

Create a Focal Point

When planting trees for decorative landscaping, think about creating a focal point. This could be a tall, elegant tree as a center of attention or a grouping of trees in an interesting pattern. You can also use trees to frame a pathway or highlight an outdoor feature such as a garden or fountain. And, trees around your home can lower your heating and cooling bills, too.

Group Trees

A great way to create an attractive outdoor space is to group trees together. Try grouping different types of trees, or trees of similar color, size, and shape. This will create a visually pleasing display, especially if you intermix hardscape elements, too, such as pathways or a retaining wall. The sky’s the limit when it comes to using trees for decorative purposes at your Kansas City-area home or office. Learn more from our certified arborists today.

Choose Colorful Trees

Brightly colored trees can add a lot of interest and beauty to a landscape. Consider planting trees with foliage in different shades of green, yellow, red, and orange. In addition, consider the color of your tree’s blooms in the spring for a beautiful and timely seasonal look. If you’re looking for a unique display, you can also search for trees with colorful flowers or fruit.

Add Accessories

Once you’ve selected the trees for your decorative landscaping, consider adding accessories to the trees in order to enhance the overall look. Twinkling lights, hanging baskets, birdhouses, and garden art can all be used to make your outdoor space even more beautiful. And, who doesn’t love to watch birds come and feed throughout the year? And, you never know — you could end up with a bird’s nest full of babies, too!

What People Are Saying

  • Safety Tree Service did a great job trimming several elm and ash trees for me, as well as a few pin oaks. The pin oaks had various dead limbs that needed to be removed and other limbs that needed to be thinned. Ty did an excellent job removing the dead wood and trimming the trees, which helped reduce risk of damage from limbs falling and greatly improved the health and overall appearance of the trees. With the recent bad weather I’m glad I hired Ty as I’m confident one of the limbs would have come down on a power line. I received bids from multiple tree trimmers and Ty’s bid was very competitive and he was able to provide proof of insurance. Some of the other bidders offered lower prices but were not insured! I do recommend Ty to others as he did a great job for me.

We have referred our customers to Ty because they continually tell me how exceptional their overall experience was with Safety Tree.
